Houston lazy river pool over-chlorinated, resulting in 12 hospitalizations

City fire officials said Saturday that 12 people were taken to hospitals after an over-chlorinated lazy river swimming pool in Houston.

A Houston Fire Department statement said the exposure occurred shortly before 5 p.m. in the Briarforest neighborhood.

Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña said the cause "appears to be an over-chlorination of the pool(s)." According to an initial tweet, seven children and three adults were hospitalized.
